Compliance Monitoring
The Special Education Compliance office coordinates the District Validation Review (DVR) process and other internal monitoring activities. In addition to monitoring school sites for the purpose of ensuring compliance with District, state, and federal mandates, we seek to ensure that all students with IEPs served in District schools and LAUSD chartered Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) schools have access to high quality education programs and services. To achieve this goal, we use data to develop review mechanisms for school site monitoring, training modules and materials, and systems of advisement that will build the capacity of school site staff to effectively plan for and implement IEPs. It is our overarching goal to utilize the compliance monitoring process to support the District's primary mission of ensuring all students are educated to their maximum potential.
