Teacher Growth and Induction

The Los Angeles Unified Teacher Induction Program (TGI) is a two-year job-embedded teacher induction program accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). TGI supports beginning teachers holding a Preliminary Multiple Subjects or a Single Subject Credential. TGI is committed to accelerated teacher growth and development as a professional educator, leading to a California Clear Teaching Credential. The California Standards for Teaching Profession (CSTP) provides the foundational expectations for the TGI program. The expectation is that the candidates will make progress toward mastery of the CSTPs through intense individual support.
TGI provides support for candidates through individualized and differentiated mentoring, as candidates advance toward meeting the CTC's requirements for Teacher Induction. The level of support provided by the mentor is differentiated based on the candidates' years of experience and identified needs. Candidate teachers will be assigned a mentor within the first 30 days of enrollment. During the candidate's induction journey, the candidate will:
- develop enduring professional skills
- advance in their proficiency in LAUSD's Teaching and Learning Framework
- demonstrate progress toward mastery of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP)
