Micro-Credentialing Program

During the 2018-2019 school year, Los Angeles Unified launched a first-of-its kind research- and competency-based Micro-Credentialing Program in order to provide educators across the District with sustained, collaborative, coherent, and targeted professional learning aligned to District needs.
For the 2022-2023 school year, the District will offer:
- Cohort five of the STEAM Micro-Credential
- Cohort four of the TK-12 English Learner Micro-Credential
- Cohort three of the Reading Specialist: Early Literacy Foundations Micro-Credential
- Cohort three of the Dual Language Education Micro-Credential
We are also excited about launching the inaugural cohorts of both the:
- Early Childhood Micro-Credential
- Equitable Grading and Instruction (EGI) Micro-Credential

LAUSD Launches Fifth Year of Micro-Credentialing With Expanded Offerings To Enhance Educator Excellence At Our District's Highest and High Needs Schools
Posted by MICHAEL BEIERSDORF on 8/24/2022Los Angeles Unified launched its Micro-Credentialing Program in 2018 to cultivate and recognize educator excellence across the District. In support of Pillar 5 of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, Investing in Staff, we are excited to continue and expand this rigorous professional-learning opportunity.
Micro-Credential offerings continuing for the 2022-2023 school year include:
- Cohort five of the STEAM Micro-Credential
- Cohort four of the TK-12 English Learner Micro-Credential
- Cohort three of the Reading Specialist: Early Literacy Foundations Micro-Credential
- Cohort three of the Dual Language Education Micro-Credential
Additionally, two new expansion Micro-Credentials will launch in the 2022-2023 school year:
- Cohort one of the Early Childhood Micro-Credential
- Cohort one of the Equitable Grading and Instruction (EGI) Micro-Credential
Recruitment efforts are focused on educators from our District’s “highest” and “high” needs schools according to the Student Equity Needs Index (SENI). This focus will help achieve the goals set forth within Pillar 5B of the Strategic Plan as well as our School Board’s 2018 resolution, “Realizing the Promise for All: Close the Gap by 2023.” Additionally, we are hopeful that teams of educators from each participating school join a Program together.

Cohort 5 STEAM Micro-Credentialing Program Application Window Open!

We are excited to welcome the next community of learners who will work together as advocates for STEAM.
