Rising Freshmen Success, Grade 8
Eighth grade students who are currently enrolled in Los Angeles Unified can take advantage of the Rising Freshmen Success Program that will take place on a high school campus. Gain essential tips for success and build a strong foundation in math and literacy. Get ready for a strong start of your high school journey!
- Program Dates: June 17, 2025 – July 16, 2025
No school June 19 and July 4 - Times: 8:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.

How to Apply: Interested 8th graders/parents should speak to their Middle School Counselor to register.

Eligibility: Current eighth-grade Los Angeles Unified students with a District ID who will enter ninth grade in August 2025.
- Credits: Students can earn 5 credits upon completing the course.
- Program Dates: June 17, 2025 – July 16, 2025

High School Summer Term, Grades 9-12
High school students who are currently enrolled in Los Angeles Unified can take advantage of the Summer Term program which offers credit recovery to students in grades 9-12. Students may enroll in two in-person courses taught by Los Angeles Unified secondary teachers and two virtual asynchronous Edgenuity courses. Students can retake a variety of core and elective courses to meet A-G graduation requirements and be Ready for the World!
- Program Dates: June 17, 2025 – July 16, 2025
No school June 19 and July 4 - Times:
- Period 1: 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.
- Nutrition: 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
- Period 2: 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Period 3 & 4: Asynchronous (Edgenuity curriculum)

- Eligibility: Current Los Angeles Unified students with a District ID in grades 9 – 12

Local Design
High School students who are currently enrolled in Los Angeles Unified can explore unique and engaging subjects beyond the standard curriculum in our high school enrichment class, designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. This program will be available at select sites.

No school June 19 and July 4.
Times: Vary by course and location. Schedule options may include:-
8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (5 credit course)

11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (5 credit course)

8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (10 credit course).

Additional hours will take place before the start of summer school on June 12 and 13, with scheduling determined by each school.

Los Angeles Community College District Courses
High school students currently enrolled in Los Angeles Unified have the opportunity to take a wide range of college courses through the Los Angeles Community College District. Available courses include Health, Ethnic Studies, College 101 and World Languages such as Spanish, and American Sign Language. Students may take a special course, College 101: Navigating your Path Through College to Career. This course will allow students the opportunity to explore career pathways, identify their college readiness strengths & needs, and expand their personal tool-kit for academic success. Students may earn both high school and college credits.

How to Apply: Please contact your child's counselor. The school counselor will submit an interest form on behalf of your child. Deadline is May 15, 2025. Your child will then be contacted by the district counselor to attend an informational and enrollment session after school virtually, towards the end of May.
