    Hiring Stipend and Equity Action Network (EAN) Professional Development

     

    Los Angeles Unified is offering hiring stipends of $5,000 for newly hired credentialed teachers who elect to work in high needs schools (High or Highest on SENI Ranking) and commit to remaining at their school site for a minimum of three years.

    Eligible new hires will also be invited to participate in the Equity Action Network: a 20-hour paid professional development series dedicated to establishing a community of equity-driven educators.

  • Vaccine Guidance for Certificated Employees

    Effective September 26, 2023, the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education rescinded its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. This includes employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, charter school employees and prospective employees, who are no longer required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

    We will continue to examine and update our health and safety protocols to ensure the health of all students, employees and everyone in the school community. We strongly continue to encourage vaccinations for all employees, volunteers, contractors, families and students.

    Former Certificated Employees

    As a former certificated employee, you are eligible to reapply for an assignment with the District. You may be required to submit documentation, including, but not limited to the following: 

    • Fingerprint clearance
    • Proof of Tuberculosis (TB) and medical clearance.

    Connect with EASE (November) - "Designing a Gratitude Roadmap" & "Leadership Series"

    This November 2023 Connect with EASE is focused on the article "Moving with Gratitude," the workshop for this month is "Designing a Gratitude Roadmap," in this session, participants will learn about the benefits (and science) of a gratitude practice. The workshop will walk you through various practices and how to create a habit of gratitude in your day-to-day life. Please register to attend and receive a recording of the workshop and resource guide. 

    Calm: Leadership Series
    Employees are constantly running from one meeting to another without taking a moment to be present with the next person or task.     Are you an NBC Teacher? Become a Mentor!

    We continue to call upon many of our NBCTs to support new teachers by agreeing to serve as their mentors.  There is an active recruitment process as well as a mentor-training program underway.   Our next “Fundamentals of Mentoring Course” will begin in January.  Again, the goal is to assist our newly certified NBCTs to expand their understanding of key elements of support that our new hires need to succeed.
