- What is the Summer of Learning Program?
-
The Summer of Learning is Los Angeles Unified’s summer school program, which comprises multiple opportunities designed to meet the summer learning needs of all our students. The programs include Summer Universal Transitional Kindergarten through Seventh Grade (UTK-7), Grade eight Rising Freshman Success, Grades 9-12 Credit Recovery, Grades 8-12 Dual Enrollment Community College Courses, Extended School Year (ESY), International Newcomer, and Migrant Education.
- When is the deadline for applications?
-
We will continue to enroll students up to the beginning of our programs, but we encourage families to register as soon as possible. All current Los Angeles Unified students and families can visit this website for additional details on how to register for summer programs. We will continue to enroll students up to the beginning of our programs, but we encourage families to register as soon as possible.
- Is there an eligibility requirement to participate?
-
Yes. Several Summer of Learning Programs require students to meet specific eligibility requirements in order to participate. To learn more about specific program requirements, click on the Programs by Grade and Specialized Programs in the menu header.
- Will everyone who applies be accepted?
-
Yes, the opportunity to participate in summer school will be available for all students who apply. However, if a course reaches capacity, families will be notified and another course must be selected.
- Can students attend more than one program?
-
Students may participate in multiple programs as long as their schedules do not overlap. For example, a student can attend the elementary summer program from June 17 to July 16 and also enroll in one enrichment camp offered either July 21–25 or July 28–August 1. However, students in grades 8–12 who enroll in a dual enrollment college course during the school day will not be eligible to participate in the Freshman Success program, Credit Recovery program, or Local Design enrichment program that also takes place during school hours.
- If a course is full, will there be a waitlist?
-
There is no waitlist for programs. If a summer school program has reached its capacity, families can enroll at a different site. Students can only apply for an enrichment camp within their region.
