Volunteer Application Process
-
Please read the following directions explaining the process for applying to volunteer and approving school volunteer applications.
Online Application – submitted by prospective volunteer
Any person interested in participating in a school’s volunteer program, including continuing volunteers, prospective virtual volunteers, prospective on-campus volunteers, LAUSD employees, community members and interns, must complete the online volunteer application on the School Volunteer Management System.
A volunteer can access the online registration process and application at https://volunteerapp.lausd.net.
If a person does not have access to the necessary technology to complete the online volunteer application, the school will designate an employee to assist in completing and submitting the online application on the person’s behalf. Volunteers serving at more than one LAUSD school must have an approved online application for each school before they can begin service.
A waiver of liability is required to participate in on-campus volunteering in the Los Angeles Unified School District School Volunteer Program, showing agreement to the terms and release of liability. Volunteers are now required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the LAUSD Daily Pass - https://dailypass.lausd.net.
Once the online volunteer application is completed and submitted electronically, the application may be approved or denied by the site principal or the principal’s designee.
Online Application Review – submitted by the school/office
For Tier II and III Volunteers, the school/office must review (ensure required fields are completed) and approve or deny the online application for all individuals applying to become volunteers. The school principal/approver must verify and approve that the volunteer has met all requirements, including:
- Completed application, printed and signed, kept on file
- Approved application by the Office of Parent and Community Services
- Signed Volunteer Commitment Form
- Megan’s Law clearance through https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov
- Tuberculosis test clearance through a medical provider
- Fingerprinting (when applicable)
- On-Campus volunteers have COVID-19 vaccination card uploaded and approved on the LAUSD Daily Pass
See BUL - 6746.4 for more information.

Volunteer Management System and the LAUSD Daily Pass
The Daily Pass website is where volunteers upload proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Volunteers may use their Volunteer Management System email and password to connect to the LAUSD Daily Pass by visiting https://dailypass.lausd.net and selecting the "Parent" log in option. The first time the Volunteer Management System email and password are used to link to the Daily Pass website, the volunteer will be asked to create a profile. However, after the initial registration, volunteers will simply need to sign-in to access the site.
COVID-19 Vaccination verification for Single Event Volunteers
Single Event Volunteers are volunteers for one day only during the entire school year. Before beginning their volunteer service, they are required to fill out the Tier I LAUSD Single Event Volunteer Application (Attachment A1/A2) and sign the Volunteer Commitment Form (Attachment C1/C2). Please refer to Campus Entry Requirements for Parents/Guardians for guidance on COVID-19 testing/vaccination clearance here. The Office of Parent and Community Services strongly encourages school sites to have all volunteers fill out an online volunteer application and be approved in the Volunteer Management System, https://volunteerapp.lausd.net, whenever possible. Single Event Applications may never be used for overnight field trips.

COVID-19 COMPENSATORY EDUCATION PLAN
https://ca01000043.schoolwires.net/compedplan
What is the COVID-19 Compensatory Education Plan?
Students with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative effect on schools resulting in learning disruption nationally. Students with disabilities may need Compensatory Education services to remedy any educational or other deficits that resulted from a student with an IEP or Section 504 plan not receiving the evaluations or services to which they were entitled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students with disabilities may also need Recoupment Services to regain skills lost resulting from pandemic learning disruptions.
The Los Angeles Unified School District has implemented two approaches for processes for addressing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic:Compensatory Education- special education and related aids and services to remedy any educational or other deficits that resulted from a student with a disability (with either an IEP or Section 504 plan) not receiving the evaluations or services to which they were entitled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recoupment Services- additional supports offered to general and special education students to address potential learning loss caused by pandemic-related school facility closures. For further information on Recoupment Services please refer to: https://ca01000043.schoolwires.net/Page/17665
