On August 25, 2009, the Public School Choice Resolution was adopted by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education to provide new opportunitites for families and communities within LAUSD to improve their local schools.
During this first round of Public School Choice internal and external applicant teams such as pilot teams, charter organizations, announced a new initiative called Public School Choice. Driven by the efforts of former Superintendent Ramon Cortines, PSC invited operational and instructional plans from internal and external stakeholders, such as school planning teams, local communities, pilot school operators, labor partners, charters, and others interested in collaborating with the District to operate the District’s new schools and Program Improvement (PI) schools in an effort to create more schools of choice and educational options for the District’s students and families.
