Reasonable Accommodations for District Functions/Activities
-
The federal civil rights statutes under Section 504 regulations (34 C.F.R. §104 et seq.) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq.) require educational agencies receiving federal funds, such as the Los Angeles Unified School District (the District), to provide reasonable accommodations for qualified disabled individuals who have an interest in District activities, programs, and services.
If you have a disability that restricts your ability to participate in a District activity, program, or service, you may request reasonable and appropriate accommodation(s) by contacting the local area District office, or school administrator hosting the event. The request should include a statement of the impairment, a description of the accommodation sought, and an explanation of why the accommodation is needed. The District may request additional clarifying information about the nature of the qualifying impairment in order to determine the most appropriate reasonable accommodation that may apply under the circumstances.
Accessibility requests should be made as far in advance as possible in order to give the District time to review and process the request.
