  • Background

The Strategic Enrollment and Program Planning Office (SEPPO) was created in an effort to help families navigate enrollment within the Los Angeles Unified School District. SEPPO serves the complementary purposes of both addressing the trend of declining enrollment in the Los Angeles Unified School District and increasing equity and access to any educational pathway our District offers. Below are some of the exciting components of our strategic work.

Strategic Enrollment Pupil Services and Attendance Counselors

Strategic Enrollment Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselors assist with a strategic initiative to help families navigate enrollment in LAUSD. Working with Pupil Services and School Design Options administrators, Strategic Enrollment PSA Counselors ensure that students and families are able to access enrollment, overcome barriers to enrollment, and apply for specialized programs that may be available throughout the District. These PSA Counselors collaborate with and support Student Health and Human Services, Unified Enrollment, Local Districts and Communities of Schools to analyze enrollment data, assist with recruitment and outreach, support and engage parents/caregivers and provide case management to families who experience enrollment challenges.

    Born to Learn

Born to Learn is a campaign introducing the Los Angeles Unified School District and our exciting programs to newborn babies and their families. We would like to provide essential information to families so they are aware of the many exciting opportunities within the Los Angeles Unified School District and how to access them.

    Program Planning

The Strategic Enrollment and Program Planning assists with the planning of programs within the District. SEPPO ensures program continuity between schools and grade levels. SEPPO also assists with the planning of programs with the goal of improving the District's student enrollment.

    Transportation Pilot

The Transportation Opportunities (TOPS) pilot fulfills of one of Superintendent Carvalho’s 2022-26 Strategic Plan measures of success: “By 2026, we will increase student ridership access for transportation services” with the goal of making Los Angeles Unified the district of choice for families. Using data-driven rationale, SEPPO selected communities for expanded school bus transportation services at 15 secondary schools. Eligible students receive transportation from their local elementary school to their high school of residence.
