The following links are provided to assist school sites in implementing components of the District's Safe School Plan:Bullying and Hazing Policy - Bulletin 5212.1 - The District is committed to providing a safe and civil learning and working environment. The District takes a strong position against bullying, hazing, or any behavior that infringes on the safety or well-being of students, employees, or any other persons within the District’s jurisdiction or interferes with learning or the ability to teach.Discipline Foundation Policy: School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support - Bulletin 6231.0 - The Board of Education has adopted the School Discipline Policy and School Discipline Bill of Rights (May 2013).Violence-Prevention Curriculum "Second Step" - Second Step®: A Violence Prevention Curriculum is a universal prevention program designed to reduce impulsive and aggressive behavior in children and adolescents by increasing their social competency skills.Restorative Justice Practices - The District adopted the School Climate Bill of Rights in May 2013 and committed to implementing Restorative Justice practices in all schools by 2020. Restorative Justice emphasizes community building and commits – when harm occurs – to restoring relationships. Restorative practices, when consistently applied, promote and strengthen positive school culture.Human Relations/Diversity Training - The Office of Human Relations, Diversity & Equity is committed to fostering a safe and respectful District, school and community culture where the seeds of peace and justice are sown so that all students and staff can lead safe, purposeful and academically fruitful lives.Model Safe School Plan, Volume 2 - Emergency Procedures - The Safe School Plans address violence prevention, emergency preparedness, traffic safety and crisis intervention.

Safe Environment Focus Areas:
1. Developing a positive behavior discipline plan in accordance with the Discipline Foundation Policy: School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support.2. Implementing the LAUSD-adopted violence-prevention curriculum "Second Step" to meet the NCLB, Title IV mandates for Safe and Drug-Free Communities Single Plan.3. Prepare and annually update a Safe School Plan using the District's Model Safe School Plan, Volumes: 1-3.
