    Blueprint for Wellness - Health Education 

    LAUSD recognizes the critical relationship between a healthy student and academic achievement—“that students must be healthy to be educated and be educated to be healthy 1.” An increasing number of our students are coming to school with a variety of health problems that make it more difficult for them to learn at an optimal level and achieve academically.    READ MORE 

    Health Education Focus Areas: 

    1. All teachers have been trained and are fully implementing research-based curriculum on violence prevention (Second Step Grades K-8) and ATOD prevention.
    2. The required STD/HIV prevention-education for middle and high schools is taught by a credentialed health teacher using the District-adopted programs Positive Prevention curriculum.
    3. Nutrition education is taught as part of the health education curriculum via the LAUSD-adopted textbooks for K-12.
