Career Ladder participants are advised to apply for a teaching position during their final term of student teaching, as long as all other requirements and tests have been completed.Alternative certification candidates may apply once all required tests and the baccalaureate degree have been completed.When completing the online application please mark "Paraeducator Career Ladder" when answering the question "How did you hear about teaching positions with LAUSD?" In addition, be sure to bring up your Teacher Assistant experience and the Career Ladder as your preparation for becoming a teacher during your formal interview.Please be aware, that applications are being accepted year round and considered active for a period of 1 year from the date submitted. Active applications are reviewed and moved along for eligibility based on the needs of the District, not in the order received.All individuals must first complete an online application and successfully complete the eligibility process through Human Resources prior to apply to and interviewing at school sites for specific teacher positions.For more information about the eligibility process, please click below:To go directly to the online application, please click here.Career Ladder participants are welcome to apply to become a substitute teacher, when they meet the requirements; however, the Career Ladder is a bargaining agreement between the District and SEIU/Local 99 for union members in units B and F.
