• New SIG Banner

  • This page outlines the Year 2 Educator Effectiveness activities for Cohort 1 SIG schools.  Above, you will find a link to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aka the side letter to the contract, between Central and UTLA.  In each year of SIG, a MOU is negotiated before we can commence with Educator Effectiveness activities.  The MOU lays out the decision-making structure as well as the parameters of the work that can be done, including the number of hours and stipend amount.

Last year, we introduced SIG schools to the Teaching and Learning Framework and the various tools that we're considering for the new formal observation process.  This year, the focus is on supporting the growth and development of teachers by providing job-embedded, targeted training.  Most schools will be test-driving the new Growth and Development Module, which provides support on specific components of the Teaching and Learning Framework.  As with last year, we will collect feedback on the various tools and protocols that are being test-driven.  We appreciate the work that you have put into developing the new Educator Growth and Development system; your feedback from last year greatly influenced the planning of the Initial Implementation Phase, which is piloting the new formal observation process with about 450 teachers in 100 schools across the district.

Besides the MOU, this page contains links to the Activities Summary and hours tracking spreadsheet for each school (see icons above).  The Activities Summary document is a general description of this year's activities.  Because quite a few schools have chosen to develop their own activities, the Activities Summary may or may not apply to you.  Please ask your administrator for clarification.  Lastly, the clock in the upper-right links to the Participation Hours spreadsheets in Google Docs, where you can track your progress towards completing the 30-hour requirement.  If you have trouble viewing Google Docs on your computer at work, please go to the LAUSD Techsupport Webpage and install the Security Certificate for your web browser.
