Living in L.A.
-
In Los Angeles you can hike a mountain trail in the morning and cool off at the ocean in the afternoon. Cloudy days are a rarity - there are about 329 days of sun annually and air temperatures reach the mid-70s five months of the year.
Ethnic neighborhoods reflect the diversity of Los Angeles’ 3.7 million residents. Considered the cultural center of the Pacific Rim, it has the largest Asian / Pacific Island population in the US and boasts the largest Hispanic community outside Mexico City and Guadalajara. L.A. is home to people from 140 countries, speaking 92 different languages.
There are more than 2,000 museums, galleries, theaters and other attractions in our city, including the magnificent Getty Center and midtown’s Miracle Mile, which has a cluster of museums within walking distance of each other - including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Museum of Miniatures and the George C. Page museum for the La Brea Tar Pits. With its dozens of annual events - from parades to sporting events to festivals - there’s always something exciting to do and see in the Los Angeles area.
Higher education also thrives in Los Angeles. Approximately 20 universities, many of them world renowned -such as the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California - and over 80 colleges and trade schools are located in the greater Los Angeles area.
