    What is the Spring Academy at select schools?

    The Spring Academy is taking place at select school sites during the week of March 25-29, 2024. The Spring Academy programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of students in select schools, offering them the chance to delve into essential enriching concepts and receive personalized instruction from a teacher right at their school campus.

               

    What students are eligible to participate?

    The Spring Academy is open to enrolled students at select sites who meet the criteria outlined by the school. Families should contact their school for additional information. 

     

    What can students expect?

    The Spring Academy programs are designed to support students with additional instructional time. School schedules will vary. Students will be provided with breakfast and lunch. All students will receive a tailored experience based on their academic needs at select participating schools.

     

    Will my school be open during the Spring Academy?

    Select schools across the Los Angeles Unified School District will be open during the Spring Academy. Click here to see a list of participating schools.  You may also contact your student's school of regular attendance for more information.

    If a student's school of regular attendance is not open, they can engage in independent meaningful activities including continuity of learning resources described on this page.  Parents and students can access these activities on Schoology. Parents can log in with their Parent Portal account, and students can visit lms.lausd.net.

     

    How can I register my student for the Spring Academy?

    If your student’s school is open for Spring Academy, you may contact your school for registration information.

     

    What does instructional support and enrichment include?

    All students will receive a mix of instructional support and enrichment as designed by individual schools based on the needs of participating students.

    For elementary students, instructional support can include small group or one-on-one sessions with a teacher. Enrichment includes outdoor activities, fitness, dance and more.

    For middle school and high school students, instructional support can include guided opportunities to improve grades, course extensions, performance assessment support, assignment supports and activities focused on college and career readiness. Enrichment includes workshops for Advanced Placement courses, science activities, media literacy, history, STEAM workshops and outdoor activities. 

     

    Will food be provided?

    Yes! Healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunch will be served.

     

    Will Beyond the Bell after school programs be offered?

    Beyond the Bell after-school programs will be provided for most elementary and middle school sites hosting Spring Academy. Students enrolled in Spring Academy are eligible to participate. The Beyond the Bell application for new students is due on March 25.

     

    Will transportation be offered?

    If a school is providing a Spring Academy, all students who normally receive transportation as part of their special education services will also receive transportation for the Spring Academy to their regular school of attendance.

    If a school is providing a Spring Academy, all students who attend a magnet school or magnet center who normally receive transportation will receive transportation for the Spring Academy to their regular school of attendance.

    What is the impact of the Spring Academy on attendance?

    The Spring Academy is not mandatory for students and will not impact attendance, but we encourage eligible students to attend.

     

    What are the school hours for the Spring Academy?

    The Spring Academy programs have been designed by individual sites and hours will vary. Please contact your student's school of attendance for additional information.

     

    If my school is not open or my student is not attending the Spring Academy what instructional resources are available? 

    The Los Angeles Unified School District is offering engaging learning activities for all students during spring break through the Spring Break Continuity of Learning Plan. This plan includes digital activities for reading, writing, math, and enrichment.

    Parents and students can access these activities on Schoology. Parents can log in with their Parent Portal account, and students can visit lms.lausd.net.
