Dr. Collier is an educator dedicated to academic excellence, culturally responsive schools, parent engagement, social and emotional wellness, and challenging the status quo. As the Region West Superintendent for Los Angeles Unified School District(LAUSD), her singular goal is to ensure all students are ready for college, career, and life. Dr. Collier has been a teacher, principal, coordinator, and director for programs supporting new teachers, equity initiatives, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction, after-school programs, and STEAM/STEM magnet schools. She founded a Children's Defense Fund Freedom School, an intergenerational reading program that teaches students they can make a difference in their communities with hope, education, and action. Most recently, she supervised principals and instructional staff as a Community of Schools Administrator in LAUSD. Dr. Collier has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from UC Berkeley, a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UC Berkeley, and a Doctorate in Education from UC Irvine. As an educator for 30 years and a current LAUSD parent, Dr. Collier promotes safe, healthy, and equitable schools.
