    Covered California
In order to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), Covered California was created to assist citizens and lawfully present individuals with applying for health insurance coverage.

Covered California enables individuals and small businesses to purchase health insurance at federally subsidized rates. These subsidized rates reduce the cost of an enrollee’s monthly premium and are based on his/her age, household size, projected household income and the health plan and tier level he/she selects.

To apply for Covered California, you must complete the application during the program’s open enrollment period. Any applications submitted outside the open enrollment period will be denied unless the enrollee has a qualifying life-changing event (i.e. marriage or loss of health insurance). All life-changing events must be reported within 60 days of the date of the event in order to be able to enroll into Covered California.

    Kaiser Permanente Child Health Program
The Kaiser Child Health Program (KPCHP) provides health coverage to children up to the age of 19 who are not eligible for any other health insurance. KPCHP provides dental and medical services for those who qualify based on income.

For more information on these programs or for assistance determining which program you are eligible for, please contact CHAMP at (213) 241-3840.

You do not have to be a U.S. citizen for your child/children to qualify for the Child Health Program.
