LAUSD/UTLA Peer Assistance & Review Program (PAR)
-
The Los Angeles Unified School District/United Teachers Los Angeles Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) Program’s purpose is to support and renew quality teaching in classrooms throughout the District. Jointly governed by LAUSD and UTLA, PAR emphasizes teacher professionalism and recognizes that teacher quality positively affects student outcomes.
PAR Consulting Teachers (CTs) provide confidential instructional coaching support to classroom teachers. PAR CTs are selected in a rigorous interview process and receive regular professional development in methods and strategies to best serve the teachers they work with. PAR CTs use the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) and the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework (TLF) as the foundations of their collaborative work.
PAR also provides over 20 professional development workshops throughout the year. PAR PDs are designed to support the effective practice of teachers across the District. All LAUSD certificated staff are welcome to attend PAR workshops at no cost.
Note: Some charter schools may incur a cost for coaching support and professional development based on how their funds are distributed.
