Program Options
LAUSD GATE programs provide high-quality differentiated instruction with an emphasis on depth, complexity, acceleration, and novelty. They offer high-level academic opportunities that meet the unique needs of K-12 gifted learners. LAUSD GATE program options include:
Resident School GATE Program (all schools cluster gifted students and provide differentiated instruction)
Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS) (150 demonstration sites across the District)
Magnet Programs (including 53 Gifted Magnets and 4 Highly Gifted Magnets)
Honors and Advanced Placement classes (middle and senior high schools)
Conservatory of Fine Arts (supplemental Saturday instructional program, students identified in voice, dance, drama, or visual arts have priority)
The Choices process allows families to apply to multiple District program options, including Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS) and Magnet, using a single application. The 2025-26 Choices Application window is open from October 1, 2024 - November 15, 2024, at https://choices.lausd.net.
