    LAUSD School Buses - School OperationsDivision of School Operations

    The mission of the Division of School Operations is to ensure that every Los Angeles Unified school receives support and guidance toward creating and maintaining a safe and caring environment that supports student learning and achievement. School Operations is also responsible for providing schools with assistance and support on prevention, intervention and recovery for critical incidents; facilitating professional development that celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion; and establishing a climate that fosters the partnership between academics and athletics. 


    School Operations contributes to Pillar 2: Joy and Wellness, Pillar 1: Academic Excellence, Priority 1B Enriching Experiences, Pillar 4: Operational Effectiveness, Priority 4D District of Choice and Pillar 5: Investing in Staff, Priority 5C Staff Wellness.

     

    Information Technology Services Division

    Information Technology Services DivisionThe mission of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division is to promote student achievement and operational efficiencies through the deployment of appropriate technological solutions for students and their families, employees and the community. ITS aims to provide excellent customer support to schools and offices, work proactively with all stakeholders to support the District’s mission and provide appropriate, effective and secure technological solutions to facilitate each student’s path to college and career readiness.


    ITS is engaged in Pillar 3: Engagement and Collaboration, Priority 3B Accessible Information and Pillar 4: Operational Effectiveness, Priority 4B Modernizing Infrastructure.

     

    Facilities Services DivisionFacilities Services Division

    The mission of the Facilities Services Division is to maintain and enhance learning environments that are safe, healthy and support educational achievement. Facilities manages the planning, design and construction efforts of a multi-billion Capital Bond Program to provide District schools with needed upgrades and modernizations; maintains, cleans and operates approximately 1,300 facilities, including schools, centers and various administrative sites; manages the District’s real estate assets, including license agreements and civic center permits; and plans for future capital projects to address ongoing and unmet school facility needs. Maintenance and Operations responds to approximately 300,000 school services calls each year, regularly surveys schools and recommends improvements and performs deep cleaning on an annual basis. The Bond Program continues to make additional long-lasting investments with 230 projects valued at approximately $4.8 billion under construction and 577 projects valued at $3 billion in pre-construction.

    Los Angeles School Police Department

    Los Angeles School Police DepartmentThe mission of the Los Angeles School Police Department is to assist students, teachers, administrators and other staff in providing a safe environment in which the educational process can take place. Key areas of responsibilities for Los Angeles School Police are facilitating safe passage of students and families to and from school sites, supporting students in partnership with school mental health personnel to respond to students and staff experiencing a mental health crisis and working in tandem with Student Health and Human Services to reduce the criminalization of students and victimization through the District’s Arrest Diversion Referral Program, and working with municipal law enforcement agency partners to support students participating in the Police Academy Magnet programs.


    School Police supports Pillar 1: Academic Excellence, Priority 1B Enriching Experiences, Pillar 2: Joy and Wellness, Priority 2A Welcoming Learning Environments and Pillar 5: Investing in Staff, Priority 5A Diverse Workforce.

     

    Business and Finance DivisionBusiness and Finance Division

    The mission of the Business and Finance Division, led by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), is to partner with all Los Angeles Unified divisions to support the District’s academic objectives while also maintaining the appropriate fiduciary roles expected by the District’s taxpayers. This division is responsible for providing budget, financial planning and related services that maximize the resources available to carry out the educational and support activities of the District; ensuring allocation of funds for highest-needs students; protecting the District’s assets by identifying risks and managing programs to control and minimize losses; and ensuring compliance with federal and state funding requirements.

    The Business and Finance Division contributes to Pillar 4: Operational Effectiveness, Priority 4C Sustainable Budgeting and Pillar 5: Investing in Staff, Priority 5C Staff Wellness.

     

    Medical Services Division

    Medical Services DivisionThe mission of the Medical Services Division, led by the Chief Medical Director, is to provide equitable healthcare, wellness and mental health access to school communities so that all students, are engaged academically, successful and ready for the world. The division is responsible for improving health outcomes and eliminating barriers to student healthcare by providing access to school-based and wellness clinics; developing and building partnerships with external organizations to increase students’ free access to health and wellness; ensuring emergency response and readiness to address public health crises and establish preventative health measures; managing the review and approval of mandated medical clearances and employee health evaluations; guiding employees through mental and physical health challenges; and promoting employee wellness initiatives.


    The Medical Services Division supports Pillar 2: Joy and Wellness, Priority 2B Whole-Child Well-Being.
