Celebrating Read LA! Day - November. 14, 2023
The resolution commits LA Unified to hereby proclaim November 14 as “Read LA Day” and encourages all Los Angeles leaders and stakeholders, including early education providers, schools, parents, civic leaders, community organizations, policymakers, and funders to recognize and prioritize early literacy as a cornerstone of our children's educational journey.

Community-Based Safety Analysis and Expansion - June. 13, 2023
The resolution affirms the Board’s commitment to a holistic vision of school safety, creating a safe, welcoming, culturally- and racially-responsive school team supported by community partnerships that respond to on-campus incidents in constructive, non-criminalizing ways.

Commemorate Ten Years of the School Climate Bill of Rights - May. 10, 2023
The resolution deepens implementation of the School Climate Bill of Rights through: continuing to provide resources that have become available because of the original resolution a decade ago; publicly endorsing SB 274, the statewide permanent elimination of suspensions for willful defiance; and directing the Independent Analysis Unit to assess the impact over the last ten years to inform the board on potential future climate opportunities.

Arts Justice: Access and Equity Across the Disciplines and the District - May. 10, 2022
The resolution commits LA Unified to equitable access to high quality, standards-based, comprehensive, sequential, culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate arts education across disciplines to all preK-12 students regardless of race, ethnicity, country of origin, family income, neighborhood of residence, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, and any other axis of historical oppression.

Black Student Excellence through Educator Diversity, Preparation and Retention — Feb. 8, 2022
The resolution calls on LA Unified to diversify, prepare and retain its educator workforce, with a specific emphasis on Black leaders, administrators and teachers. It also directs the District’s to analyze gaps of important indicators, including hiring rates, tenure, teaching experience, promotion and perceptions of job satisfaction and support.

Keeping Schools and Communities Safe and Supported in Response to Noxious Odor Near Dominguez Channel — Nov. 9, 2021
The resolution commits LA Unified to take all necessary steps to maintain the safety, health and wellness for all students, staff and schools in the Carson Community of Schools and surrounding Community of Schools.

Accelerating Achievement through Equity in Action — Aug. 24, 2021
The resolution adopts an equity impact statement to provide the LA Unified Board of Education and community an analysis of how well each board item moves toward achieving equity and commits the LA Unified School District to a more transparent and comprehensive analysis of investments toward equity.

Closing the Digital Divide to Improve Distance & Hybrid Learning — March 29, 2021
The resolution calls on LA Unified to develop a long-term plan, informed by data gathered and lessons learned, to ensure every student in the District has long-term, stable internet access.

Exploring Mastery-Based Learning and Grading — Feb. 23, 2021
The resolution commits to achieving equity for all student groups in college readiness and recognizes that mastery-based learning and grading may be one important way to do so. Mastery-based learning and grading is a growth mindset approach to teaching and learning, based on the expectation that everyone can learn when provided with the right conditions and support.
