October is Filipino American History Month

Los Angeles Unified celebrates and honors Filipino Americans and their contributions in the U.S. and globally.

The Los Angeles School Board unanimously approved a resolution earlier this year recognizing this special month, and directing the superintendent to explore establishing dual language instruction in Tagalog or any of the major dialects in the Philippines.

More than 8,000 students, who identify as Filipino, attend schools in this district.
