• LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework: A Closer Look

    TLF Example

The LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework (TLF) highlights the researched and evidence-based strategies that have been proven to be effective in meeting the needs of the District’s diverse learners including English Learners, Students with Special Needs, and Students with Disabilities. As the foundation for instructional practices in LAUSD, the TLF acts as a guide for teachers to analyze, reflect upon and improve their teaching practice independently, with colleagues, and/or with their administrator. The TLF also supports larger District initiatives, such as teacher recruitment, induction, evaluation, and growth and development.

The TLF is based on the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching and is aligned to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.  The rubrics of the TLF provide increased specificity and describe clear expectations for effective teaching practices that help teachers to more precisely self-assess their practice and for evaluators to provide more targeted feedback.
